McConnell ‘Encouraged’ by Bipartisan Health Care Talks
from the Office of Senator Mitch McConnell
Thursday, March 5, 2009
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement on Thursday regarding President Obama’s Health Care Summit:
“Health care reform should not be a partisan issue, and I am encouraged by the bipartisan talks which took place today. Republicans stand ready to help lower costs and get better value for every dollar spent on health care, but are equally committed to stopping the creation of additional unfunded liabilities which threaten the long-term sustainability of any health care reform. Both sides have good ideas, and I am confident we can make progress towards ensuring all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care if we continue to work together.”
